YOUNG ADULTS
(and the parents who love them)
One more investment for the real world.
You've already paid for the SAT tutor. The college counselor. Maybe a summer internship that didn't pay a dime but looked good on a resume. All of it was an investment in setting your young adult up.
Here's the one that usually doesn't get the same treatment: money. You brought in a professional for the SAT and college applications without a second thought. Money's the life-skill most parents try to handle themselves, usually with a mix of advice and hoping it sinks in. But your young adult can hear "you should save more" from you a hundred times. It lands differently coming from someone who isn't their parent. No history, no old arguments, no eye-rolling. Just the actual information.
That's what I do. I'm Erin, I run Coin & Compass Coaching, and most of my young adult clients start the same way yours might: a parent finds me, decides it's worth the investment, and passes my name along to their kid.
I have a degree in economics and spent 15 years in the nonprofit sector before co-founding Brooklyn Creative League, a coworking space that grew into a $1.5MM business. I ran every aspect of the financial side of the business: bookkeeping, cash flow management, corporate records, risk management, and more.
Enough about me. Here's how coaching with your young adult actually plays out in a session.
We work one-on-one, built around whatever's actually going on in their life right now: a new job, a first apartment, paying down debt, credit scores, the beginning of investing. There's no curriculum I'm running them through. It's their situation, not a template.
So your parents sent you this link.
You've stepped into adulthood: maybe a new job, a new city, your own place.
But then…shit gets real.
Student loans. Rent. Credit cards. Bills. Insurance. Taxes. And somehow you're supposed to already know how to handle all of it.
Your parents' advice doesn't quite fit your situation. Google sends you down a jargon rabbit hole. TikTok is full of promises that don't add up. Your friends are just as lost as you are.
That’s where coaching comes in. It’s time with someone whose only job is to help you figure out what's actually happening with your money. Not a lecture. Not a rundown of everything you're doing wrong. We focus on whatever's actually confusing or stressing you out right now. And I won't tell you to stop ordering takeout or never go out with friends.
One thing worth saying directly, since it's probably the first thing you're wondering: what you tell me stays between us. I don't report back to your parents. Not a summary, not a "how's it going," nothing, unless you tell me it's fine to share something specific.
You don't need to have anything figured out to start. Most people don't.
