This isn’t school 2.0
Forget everything you think you know about "financial education." This isn't some boring group class where you sit through PowerPoints about compound interest while secretly scrolling TikTok. And it's definitely not another adult talking down to you with dumbed-down explanations because "you're just a kid."
Screw that.
Some examples of things we can work on
It can feel a little overwhelming to hear “we can talk about anything you want!” Where do you even start? Here are some ideas of topics we can tackle:
Planning for major purchases like cars or computers
Learning about different types of investments and how investing works
Figuring out how to budget with irregular income from part-time jobs
Setting up your first bank accounts and credit cards
Building credit the right way from the start
Looking at college choice from a different perspective (and alternatives to college that don't suck)
Exploring entrepreneurship, including developing a pro forma and cash flow
Creating savings plans for specific goals
Getting comfortable with financial terminology so it’s not confusing and intimidating
Navigating family money dynamics
Understanding your spending habits and behaviors
It’s all about what YOU want to figure out
Every single session is built around what’s on your mind:
What are you curious about? Stocks and other types of investments?
What are you confused about? How college loans work?
What are you worried about? Ending up broke?
What are you excited about? Buying your first car?
Real talk, real information
I treat you like the intelligent person you are. That means giving you the same information I'd give any adult—no sugarcoating, no "when you're older" nonsense. You're going to be making real financial decisions soon (if you aren't already), so you deserve real answers.
How it works
We start with a 3-session package. Our 1:1 sessions are around an hour long and will be over zoom. We can schedule after school or on the weekend. If you want to keep going with another 3-session package, we can. Since every session is individualized, there's never any "repeat" content—we keep building on what you’re learning and what new situations come up.
